Core Drilling

Need to drill a 56" diameter hole or Core 100 ft deep?

Call us Today!

The core drill is the most versatile tool ABC Cutting Contractors has for cutting brick, block, and heavily reinforced concrete. Using a wide range of drill bits, we cut holes from 1" to 56" in diameter. Our drill's compact size and light weight allow accurate cutting of smooth, round holes in many tight, awkward, or remote locations. We can core more than 100 feet vertically, horizontally, on an angle, or even upside down. Need a hole drilled in the river bed under water, just call us. We can stitch drill an opening of any size or shape by drilling overlapping holes as seen above.

Je'Quon has to "stitch" drill a door opening in the hospital wall with patient rooms on both sides. Using a tight stitch pattern the finished opening will be useable without additional resurfacing.

Operator drills 6" diameter holes 5 feet through a concrete slab with 4 mats of heavy rebar. The slurry containment system keeps the area clean.

Solomon shows how you can use 2 drills at a time with auto feeds to increase productivity while maintaining quality.

The pneumatic operated drill and it's dust collection system allows for hole drilling inside confined spaces with no dust generation. Drills can be mounted horizontal or vertical, on a fork lift or independently rolled around.

Slab Saw

The slab saws are the workhorses of ABC Cutting Contractors. These saws, ranging from 5 to over 100 horsepower, enable us to quickly and cleanly cut from 1/4" to 39" deep. Whether you want to remove an entire slab, cut just an opening or make decorative cuts, we can meet your needs in a timely fashion offering quality service. If you need to Soff-Cut those control joints just let us know when the slab will be ready and we can do your job. We specialize in cutting bridge decks for removal or expansion. Need to use an 84" blade for your deep cutting project... we have it in stock ready to go.

Hand Saw

The hand saw has proven to be the most revolutionary tool in the professional concrete sawing and drilling industry. It efficiently cuts concrete, filled or hollow block and brick, and is second to none when cutting in those hard to reach areas. Light weight, with up to 10 horsepower, the hand saw works in tight areas, cutting up to 10" deep from one side for creating a window, door or mechanical opening.

Operator uses the hand saw to make close tolerance trim cuts to a pre-formed bridge component.

PJ cuts off excess pipe at the headwall using a flush cut hand saw leaving a surface that doesn't require any further resurfacing.

Wire Sawing

The most creative tool in the cutting industry is the wire saw. Using diamond beads strung on special aircraft cable separated by springs or plastic, the wire can be wrapped around any length, depth, or configuration of reinforced concrete. When used in conjunction with other concrete cutting tools, the wire saw is often competitive in removal dollars or unit cost terms. Bridge removal and renovation, plant shutdowns and expansions, and live sewer line tie-ins are a few examples of its uses. If time is money, this tool is superior to all.

Here you see Jason and Nazaree wrapping the wire around a bridge railing on I-65 in Montgomery as traffic moves by.

Wall Saw

The track mounted wall saw's operation allows for long, straight, cutting of brick, block or reinforced concrete up to 39 inches thick with access from one side. Used mainly on vertical surfaces, this saw can cut quickly and accurately from any position-- even upside down. It can be mounted at an angle or adapted for flush cutting next to a wall or along a floor where needed.

These lightweight, portable saws have changed the character of building modification. The dustless, vibration free ability of the wall saw to cut with a diamond blade has made pneumatic breaking obsolete. Cutting openings in concrete walls with diamond tools causes no structural damage and requires little patching. The convenience of sawing and completely removing many openings in one day can not be matched by any other method.

In demolition and removal projects we can use these saws not only for wall cuts, but in areas inaccessible to slab saws, such as tight corners or for stairwell removal. Our wall saws can be remotely controlled for confined space or other hazardous conditions.

Grooving / Grinding

With the capability of changing the blade spacing on the 30" wide cutting head, the transverse Groover efficiently cuts shallow channels on the surface of large, flat areas of asphalt or concrete. These grooves increase drainage and improve traction.
Here you see Tony grooving a bridge deck. Grooving can also be done on roadways, runways, in plants, factories, and warehouses; on loading docks, inclines and ramps--even in livestock barns and yards--to reduce accident rates by as much as 90 percent. If you want quality call ABC.

The mini-Groover is used for small grooving jobs or in tight locations. The mini-Groover can be used for sidewalks, hallways, patios, boat ramps, wheelchair ramps, or cart paths on golf courses.

The concrete floor grinder uses a diamond disk to remove small bumps or rough spots; to smooth joints, rain marks, or patches; or to clean industrial floors.

Electric Slab Saw

For work sites inside of buildings, where carbon monoxide is a problem, we use electric powered slab saws. These 10-60 horsepower saws, which run on 220-volt or 440-volt three phase power (available on most job sites, or if necessary supplied by our own generators) have the additional virtue of being quiet and almost without exhaust fumes for work in occupied buildings.

Precision Demolition

Whether taking down a bridge over an interstate highway, removing a two story annex next to surgical suites for a hospital expansion, or cutting twelve floors out of an office building for the installation of elevators (see insert below), ABC Cutting Contractors can play a major role. By using dustless vibration-free tools and machines, and scheduling work around your concerns, ABC can assist in the demolition or do the whole job.

ABC can assist in the project design phase and allow the contractor to be more competitive on bidding the job. Our years of experience and the vast knowledge of our 50 concrete cutters, are available for your next project.

Removing the bridge rails on I-65 in Montgomery. Using the slab saw, core drill and the wire saw ABC was a major player in the redesign of the I-65 bridge that crosses the Alabama River just north of Montgomery.

Brokk

The Brokk adds a new dimension to demolishing all types of concrete structures safely and efficiently. By using the remote control, the operator is able to safely avoid being close to the action. The Brokk can go through a 36" doorway and can climb stairs.

ABC's Brokk can climb stairs and break them out, literally from right under its own tracks. Think of what you would normally have to do to carry out this removal. ( 60 feet in the air). Here you see P.J. working the remote control robot as he removes a flight of stairs that the Brokk is sitting on.

Safety and efficiency at its best. Let the electric powered Brokk and its skilled operators save you money and time on those difficult jobs. Call and let us work with you in planning that next demo and removal project.

With a bucket the Brokk is excellent for that indoors excavation where you need to run electric not gas for diesel.

Using the crusher, the Brokk can make short work of a wall. Give us a call and let us go over how the Brokk and all of its attachments can save you money and  get the job completed safer.

Specialty Tools

Where over cutting is not possible, the chainsaw is used to square cut corners in brick, block and lightly reinforced concrete.

Josh is operating without water, the planer scarifies concrete floors, smoothing small humps and removing glues and mastics to make way for new floor coatings. The dust collection system can be added.

The crusher works on concrete from 6" to 12"  thick. Waterless, quiet and efficient, it can be the perfect substitute for the noisy jackhammer.

The concrete Burster breaks large blocks of concrete with reinforcing up to 7/8" rebar. It is used where the pieces being removed can not be cut by regular methods.

ABC assists in sewer plant modifications,
while the pipe remains under flow. By using a variety of tools, the wire saw, core drill and hand saw, down time was non-existent during a pipe modification.

Any cutting tool skillfully used can serve for ornamental cutting, but most frequently the slab saw is the tool of choice

Texturizer can remove concrete bumps and leave a non-skid surface.
